So I have to confess I’m cheating a little bit with this poem, Bath Time, my post for Day 4 of Tupelo Press’s 30/30 Project. The intent of the project is for us to write daily and share the fresh drafts with the world. This one is not new. It’s something I wrote last month and it has been through several drafts, not to mention having been submitted to a contest! (Which it did not win, thus I feel okay sharing it here).
My excuse for all this is that I spent most of yesterday in the car driving to a literature and arts conference in Santa Fe, called The Glen Workshop. As soon as I arrived, I was swept up into the energy of meeting new people, making small talk at receptions and meals, and spending each morning in a poetry workshop with the fabulous poet, Scott Cairns. I know I will be generating a lot of new work over the next few days, so in the meantime, I’ll try not to feel guilty having shirked my poetic duty for today.
As a reminder, the goal of this project is to help Tupelo raise money for it’s publishing endeavors. If you are able, consider giving $5 on my behalf to help out. Here is the link to their online donation system. Thanks!
